My notebook has been 'blue screened' by the latest Windows 10 update. I can't believe Microsoft has broken my perfectly working laptop...I have been told I need to 'configure the bios' whatever that means, as when I turn my computer on it won't read the recovery file on my USB. Does anyone understand any of this? Thank you for any help.

So you have a usb restore disk. And the system is not booting from it to reinstall Windows?

That is a pretty old machine and whether it is actually "perfectly working" is really the issue.

But you want to tap esc or F9 as you power up to get the boot option menu. Have the usb drive inserted in a usb port. Select the USB disk as the boot device and go from there.
