Hi:

The specifications for your notebook indicate that it only comes with a 1 TB NVMe SSD.

OMEN Laptop - 15-dh1003ne Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

If you partitioned that into more than one partition, the cloud recovery tool will format the entire drive and all data will be lost.

If you added a second physical drive, the recovery tool should detect that there are two storage devices installed and ask you which one you want to use the recovery image on.

Make sure you select the correct drive.

The tool will only factory reset the drive you select.

If you are not asked to select a drive, I recommend you temporarily disconnect your data drive to prevent any mishaps.

Thank you very much.

Yes, my laptop came with one hard drive, but I have installed another one as I was going short on storage.

Should I take the risk, or is it better to disconnect the second hard drive?

Many thanks again

You're very welcome.

If it is not too much trouble you may want to play it safe and temporarily disconnect the drive, but my understanding is the tool will detect more than one drive and ask you which one you want to format.

I will disconnect the second hadr drive 🙂

Thank you very much Mr. Paul_Tikkanen

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

That is probably the best way to go, since it would be impossible for a disconnected drive to get accidently erased.

Not true on my laptop. It is a 17 cn0xxx and it came with one hard drive and i added another and when i did a recovery it wiped both drives and did not ask me where to install. It just started to installing.  Now I have lost all my other data on 2nd hard drive.  I have used HP recovery in the past and it used to ask but not anymore. HP should make an update to there recovery to tell it to not format the 2nd hard drive.  Pissed off HP user

Thanks bro, this is what I've been afraid of.

So sorry for your lost bro.

For those who have lost data due to HP's stupid recovery disks. Like me can do a recovery of data on the drive or whatever. By using a data recovery program. Look on the web you can find one pretty easy. Some cost and some are free. I used EaseUS data recovery program. But know this, it will take a long time for the program to find and then the digging through what you see to find what you are looking for. Then comes the copying to another hard drive. This altogether can take many hours. So be patient.
