everything on the laptop is gone

my computer shut off randomly today and tried to turn i back on and it didn't, i plugged in the charger thinking it was dead and still nothing. so i let it charge for a few minutes and when i turned on the power button on and it turned on but when i tried to recover all the closed tabs everything i ever had on my laptop is now gone, all my files and photos. any one have any suggestions on how to get that back?

Unfortunately, this is not a new issue with Win10 Windows Updates.
