@Randy168, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your system is not recognizing the battery properly, even though it’s physically installed. There could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the error:

Re-seat the battery:

If you're using a removable battery, try reseating it (take it out, wait a moment, and then put it back). Sometimes, this can help reset the battery connection.

Update BIOS

Sometimes, the issue could be related to outdated BIOS. Check for any available updates for your system from HP's official support page.

HP Consumer Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) | HP® Support

Also, refer to this guide: HP Notebook PCs - Battery not detected in Windows | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
