Hi @Karolay, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP DeskJet 4155e printer may not be connecting to Wi-Fi on your Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan because of compatibility issues, outdated drivers, or network settings. Try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check System and Printer Compatibility

  • The HP DeskJet 4155e may not fully support Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, as HP generally optimizes newer printers for later macOS versions.
  • If possible, try connecting the printer to a newer macOS device or updating your Mac.

2. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

  • Reset the network settings on the printer:
    1. Press and hold the Wireless button (📶) and the Cancel () button for 5 seconds.
    2. Wait for the printer to restart and re-enter setup mode.

3. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

Try using HP Smart or Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • If your printer has a display, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard and reconnect.
  • If there’s no display, use HP Smart:
    1. Download HP Smart for Mac from the HP website.
    2. Open HP Smart and follow the setup instructions.
    3. If HP Smart does not support macOS 10.11, try connecting via USB.

4. Manually Add the Printer to Your Mac

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + button to add a new printer.
  3. Select the HP DeskJet 4155e from the list.
  4. Choose AirPrint or an available HP driver.

5. Update Printer Firmware

6. Connect via USB

If Wi-Fi is not working, use a USB cable to set up the printer.

If none of these steps work, your macOS version might be too old. Consider updating to at least macOS 10.13 High Sierra or using a newer computer for setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
