If your HP Envy X360 15.6 Inch 2-In-1 Laptop PC (model 15-Fh0000) won't shut off, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here are some methods to try:
1. Force Shut Down
- Press and Hold the Power Button:
- Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop powers off completely.
- Disconnect from Power:
- Unplug the power adapter and remove any external devices connected to the laptop.
2. Update Windows and Drivers
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.
Update Drivers:
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
- Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark and update the drivers.
- Specifically, update the power management and chipset drivers from the HP Support website.
Disable Fast Startup
Open Control Panel:
- Type Control Panel in the Windows search bar and open it.
Go to Power Options:
- Select Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
Choose What the Power Buttons Do:
- Click on Choose what the power buttons do from the left sidebar.
Change Settings that are Currently Unavailable:
- Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Disable Fast Startup:
- Uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup (recommended).
- Click Save changes.
Perform a Clean Boot
Open System Configuration:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
Selective Startup:
- Go to the General tab and select Selective startup.
- Uncheck Load startup items.
Disable Startup Programs:
- Go to the Services tab.
- Check Hide all Microsoft services.
- Click Disable all.
Disable Startup Items:
- Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Go to the Startup tab and disable all startup items.
Restart and Shut Down:
- Restart your laptop and then try to shut it down normally.
5. Perform System Restore
Open System Restore:
- Press Win + R, type rstrui, and press Enter.
Choose a Restore Point:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to a point when the shutdown issue did not occur.
6. Check for Malware
Run a Full System Scan:
- Use Windows Defender or any reputable third-party antivirus software to perform a full system scan and remove any malware or viruses.
7.BIOS Update
Visit HP Support:
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop model.
Download BIOS Update:
- Look for any available BIOS updates for your model and follow the instructions to install them.
8. Check Power Settings in BIOS
Access BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly during startup to enter the BIOS setup.
Check Power Settings:
- Look for power management settings and ensure they are correctly configured.
9. Reinstall Windows
Backup Data:
- Ensure all important data is backed up.
Reinstall Windows:
- Use the Reset this PC feature in Windows to reinstall the operating system.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC.
