Hi @Shourya1233,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to wait 30 minutes just to log in. Let’s work together to get your HP laptop running faster again. Since it’s been 4–5 years, there could be a few reasons for the slowdown, and I’ll guide you through the most effective steps.

Step-by-Step Fix for a Slow HP Laptop

1. Check for Startup Overload

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab.
  • Disable any unnecessary apps (like Skype, OneDrive, etc.) that launch at startup.

2. Free Up Disk Space

  • Open Settings > System > Storage.
  • Use Storage Sense to clean up temporary files, the recycle bin, and old Windows updates.

3. Scan for Malware

  • Run a full scan using Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus.
  • Malware can slow down login and system performance.

4. Update Drivers and Windows

5. Check Disk Health

  • Open Command Prompt as admin and type: chkdsk /f /r
  • Press Y to schedule a scan on the next restart.

6. Consider an SSD Upgrade

If your laptop still uses a traditional hard drive (HDD), upgrading to an SSD can dramatically improve speed, especially boot time and app loading.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
