HP Notebook - 15-ay009dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Older laptop went berserk, think it was a virus. I cannot repair, or install windows 10 on it. Can't retrieve productkey I tried both ways.

I might have messed something up trying. DSIM NT60 is what I told it, not sure if it's 54 or 60, but Vista was 54 and 10 isn't Vista, or so I think.

Trying to reinstall (via HP boot USB I get Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install Windows, restart the installation.

The product specs for your notebook indicate that it came with W10 64 bit.

The product key is encrypted in your PC's BIOS and is not needed to reinstall W10.

I suggest that you use the Microsoft media creation tool and make a bootable USB installation flash drive and clean install W10.

Download Windows 10

When you get to the part of the installation that asks, 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.

Click Next and see if W10 installs that way.

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Thank you Paul,

Worked like a charm, was hesitant deleting partitions, but your "Expert" badge removed all doubts
