when switching on the notebook beeps four times and the caps lock flashes white but the screen remains black, i have tried the hp solution for recovery but that doesnt solve it

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post. 

 

I understand that your computer is not booting to the desktop. Every time you try to turn the computer On, the computer beeps 4 times, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to help. 

If the computer is not booting, may I know how did you perform a recovery?

 

Request you refer to this HP Article, 4 beeps or capslock button blinking 4 times implies that the graphics controller has gone bad and the notebook would require a service. 

Recommend you contact our phone support for the service options available.
