poor battery life hp envy 15

HP Recommended
envy 15t-j100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I've had my HP Envy 15 for abou 1.5 years now, but the battery has never lasted more than 1.5 hours without a charge. This seems awful short for a product that advertises online as 8-9 hours.  I've bought a replacement battery (no change), people always post online that it's related to the brightness settings (mine is set at just about 1/3 bright... ie not bright at all), and I've read about redoing the battery control method in Device Manager.  None of these have had any effect.

There has to be something that can be done to get a laptop to last longer than this.  90 minute battery life doesn't even make it much of a laptop anymore and keeps me constantly locked to a desk.

Any thoughts?  Or any possible batteries that actually work better than this one?

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 15 Notebook and concerns with your battery longevity. I am seeing that if you change the power plan options to balanced option in the Notebook will help. Here is a link that will help. Go into your power options. Select Balanced and click Change plan settings. Click Change advanced power settings. Then save setting changes. Sometimes just changing it and selecting the apply and changing it back fixes this.

Here is some help with those questions on Batteries.

Unfortunately that didn't help. It lasts for only 90 min of average use (internet searching, typing in office docs) and only 60 min streaming on skype.

Was this OEM HP battery? Did you verify your charger is working and properly charging the battery?

The battery is the original one issued from HP.  I'm not sure how to verify that the charger is working properly and charging the battery.  The laptop says it's at 100%, but the charge happens very quickly (~1 hour).  If the problem is with the battery not accepting enough power and thinking it's at 100%, or the charger just not delivering it.  In any case, the laptop thinks it has it with it showing 100%.

I'm really irritated about this too. My HP Envy 15 was brand new, and fresh out the box I've never been able to get more than ONE measly hour of battery life.

I did evrything I could. Lowered the screen brightness down to about 50%, turned off the keyboard backlight. I even got the battery warranty replaced by HP. Didnt make one difference.

While simply typing this reply, the battery just went down 3%.

Very disapointed in the changes HP is making to its laptop roducts. The overall quality seems to be less each year

Similar story here. Battery life was always poor. Barely got over 3 hours when new exactly 2 years ago. Now, 2 years later, the battery is completely dead! Absolutely no storage capacity! Really now HP. only 2 years use from a battery? Pathetic and borderline highway robbery!

Hi,

How do I know whether I am being contacted by a scammer, or fake?

Update - HP reached out and sent me a new replacement battery, even though it seems my unit was outside the warranty period. Hope I get more than 2 years from this one! Kudos to HP for resolving this issue.
