After the last update of the HP Support Assistant (about a week ago), the message "Windows Event Log Service must be running" repeatedly appears. After I uninstalled HP Support Assistant, there is no way to reinstall it, neither the old nor the latest version. The message "A newer version of HP Support Assistant is installed. The installation program will now complete." (translated from Czech) is still displayed. However, the HP Support Assistant program is now unavailable.
Windows 10 x64 v. 21H2, HP ProBook 455 G8 45R02ES
Please help.

I used a few days old Windows restore point and the HP support assistant is back.
I'll wait to see if the "Windows Event Log Service must be running" message reappears. I don't actually know which program produced it - the message is completely anonymous. Maybe it wasn't HP Support Assistant. I came to this discussion via Google.
Thanks for now, I'll come back here if needed 😉
Bye

The message "Windows Event log Service must be running" continues to appear occasionally. I have found that program HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows generates this message during each start. I have verified that the "Windows Event log Sevice" service is running on my system and is started automatically.

And If you should remove that software? Well I have the same problem on my HP Omen laptop. I didn't think firstly it's a problem with a HP product, but later recognized it is. It is not the firts occasion there is problem with their softwares and I don't understand how the **bleep** they let it appear to download if works **bleep**ty. No testing before?! I thought HP is a serious company and their support, but as it seems I have to rethink my opinion.

I (and some of my friends) have been using HP hardware for a long time and have had a good experience with it. The problem "The Windows Event Log Service must be running" is rather isolated and I don't consider it serious. The message that appears once every few days is a bit annoying, but it doesn't bother me at work. I assume the problem will be fixed by the next update.
More seriously, I have discovered that there is a problem with uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Support Assistant software on my notebook. The "Programs and functions" tool of the Control Panel does not show it at all. And neither does Revo Uninstaller Pro. I only found it in Windows Settings in the Applications tool. When I uninstalled it with this tool, my notebook found itself in a state where HP Support Assistant could not be installed, and no version of it. Every attempt to reinstall ended with the message "A newer version of HP Support Assistant is installed. The installation program will now complete." (translated from Czech). I had to resolve this by using a Restore Point, which returned my notebook to a state where HP Support Assistant is installed and functional.
