I've looked at various support boards including apple.
I was able to download and install itunes no problem.
I opened itunes, signed in to the store, watched a video, all was good.
Now whenever I open itunes, I automatically get the error "Itunes has stopped working".
I've tried uninstalling every apple program on my computer and ensuring there are no files or folders left behind, and then reinstalling the software. I still get the same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found this thread on the apple forums.
Even though it applied to Windows 7 I was willing to try anything. The suggestion on the thread that solved the problem was this:
"After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes"
It worked. I haven't had any issues since. I'm able to get into itunes, sign in to the store, download, play music and videos no problem.

Thanks, Great. Your fix also works under Windows 7 Pro and IE10 / IE 11.
Nothing I suspect directly related to HP, but good to see HP providing solutions neither Microsoft nor Apple can tell!

Thank you thank you thank you! My iTunes mysteriously stopped working in late November with no explanation nor any action taken on my part to cause it. I've had a couple of interactions via phone with the nice Apple HelpDesk folks but their answer was to email me links to articles. I can't believe they haven't heard of this problem, and I daresay at some point they would miss the revenue. This solution worked and it was easy to implement. Thank you for taking the time to post this solution!
