Welcome to the HP Community --
Spell check is not computer brand related --
Spell check, like other programs and apps, is a function of the Operating System (Windows or Linux for standard laptops) AND of the software you are using to access and manage your email.
For example,
Outlook, installed on your computer and opened on that computer, is a different program than would be using a browser to open your email. Outlook in this case is a software program provided by and controlled by Microsoft / Microsoft Office.
Thunderbird is a Mozilla program client that can be installed in computers running supported versions of Windows and Linux (and maybe MacOS). Thunderbird includes a spell check extension.
Your browser is a product of the people who wrote that browser - for example, Chrome, Firefox, Edge.
If you are opening your Email in a browser, the browser provides the interface(s) that (presumably) work with the email provider that handles your mail account.
For example
Firefox > Settings > General
Section Language and appearance > Scroll down to sub-section Language
Check / Switch ON "Check your spelling as you type"
Firefox > Settings > General
Section Applications

Avast / Chrome
Settings > Languages
