Hi @himansu_sahu_01,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If lines are appearing on your screen, this issue can stem from several sources including software, drivers, cables, or hardware components. Here’s a detailed approach to troubleshooting and resolving this issue:
1. Restart Your Device
- Simple Reboot: Sometimes a restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your computer or device and then turn it back on.
2. Check Cable Connections
- Loose or Faulty Cables: Ensure that all cables connecting your monitor or screen are securely plugged in. If you’re using an external monitor, check both ends of the cable (monitor and computer).
- Try New Cables: If you have spare cables or different types (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA), try using them to see if the lines persist.
3. Test with Another Monitor
- External Monitor: If you’re using a laptop, connect it to an external monitor. If the lines don’t appear on the external monitor, the issue is likely with your laptop’s screen.
- Different Monitor: If you have a spare monitor, connect it to your computer. If the lines don’t appear on the new monitor, the original monitor may be faulty.
4. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers
- Update Drivers: Go to Device Manager (right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager), expand the Display adapters section, right-click on your graphics adapter, and choose Update driver.
- Reinstall Drivers: If updating doesn’t help, uninstall the graphics driver by right-clicking it in Device Manager and selecting Uninstall device. Restart your computer, and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
5. Check Display Settings
- Screen Resolution and Refresh Rate: Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings. Adjust the screen resolution and refresh rate to see if the issue resolves. Ensure that they are set to the recommended settings for your monitor.
6. Boot in Safe Mode
- Safe Mode: Boot your computer into Safe Mode to determine if the issue is related to third-party software or drivers. In Safe Mode, only essential drivers are loaded.
- For Windows: Restart your computer, and repeatedly press F8 (or Shift + F8 on newer systems) during startup to access Safe Mode options.
- For macOS: Restart and hold Shift to enter Safe Mode.
7. Check for Physical Damage
- Inspect the Screen: Look for any visible damage on the screen or monitor. Cracks or other physical issues can cause lines to appear.
- Screen Pressure: Ensure there is no pressure or obstruction on the screen that might be causing display issues.
8. Perform a Hard Reset
- For Laptops: Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable). Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power. Reinsert the battery, reconnect the power adapter, and restart the laptop.
9. Update Operating System
- Check for Updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date. Updates can include fixes for various hardware and software issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
