Hi @cathyjdavis50,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can feel the urgency and frustration in your message, and I’m here to help you through this.

When your HP laptop won’t boot into Safe Mode, Recovery, or respond to F11 or F2, it usually means the recovery environment is either corrupted or inaccessible due to the Windows 11 upgrade. Let’s try a few steps to gently guide your system back to life.

Step-by-Step Recovery Options

Option 1: Try Forced Recovery with Power Interrupt

This can sometimes trigger Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE):

  1. Turn off the laptop completely.
  2. Press the power button, and as soon as you see the HP logo, hold the power button again to force a shutdown.
  3. Repeat this 3 times.
  4. On the 4th boot, Windows should enter Recovery Mode automatically.

If this works, you’ll see options like Startup Repair, System Restore, or Safe Mode.

Option 2: Use HP Hardware Diagnostics (F2)

If F2 isn’t working:

  • Try pressing Esc repeatedly right after powering on.
  • Then press F2 from the Startup Menu.
  • If nothing happens, your BIOS might be corrupted, or the keyboard isn’t registering early enough.

Option 3: Create a Windows 11 Recovery USB

If nothing else works, this is your best bet:

  1. On another working PC, go to: 🔗 HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support
  2. Use the Media Creation Tool to make a bootable USB.
  3. Plug it into your HP laptop and boot from USB:
    • Press Esc or F9 during startup to select the boot device.
  4. Choose Repair your computer > Advanced options > Startup Repair or Command Prompt.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
