Hi @Ruben1961,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop running Windows 10 (64-bit) shows the error “There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made,” it usually means the recovery environment is corrupted or system files are missing.

1. Use Advanced Startup Options

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
  • Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Select Remove everything > Local reinstall.

If this fails again, proceed to the next step.

2. Run System File Checker

This checks for missing or corrupted system files:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Type: sfc /scannow
  3. Let it complete and restart your PC.

3. Use Windows Installation USB

If the reset environment is broken, you can reinstall Windows manually:

What you need:

  • A USB drive (32GB+).
  • Another working PC.

Steps:

  1. Go to HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support.
  2. Download the tool and create a bootable USB.
  3. Insert the USB into your HP laptop.
  4. Restart and press Esc or F9 to open the boot menu.
  5. Select the USB and follow the installation steps.

⚠️ Choose Custom Install and delete all partitions if you want a clean reset. Back up your data first.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
