My computer was running slow, so I decided to restart it. It won't turn back on and is showing a blue screen saying that my PC needs to be repaired: error code 0xc0000185. I've searched every site and i can't find a solution. Please help!!

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about your blue screen problem and wanted to help.

This code indicates that the boot loader files are damaged or missing, and can also mean that your hard drive is failing.

First, please follow the instructions in this post to confirm your hard drive is OK:  Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS | HP® Customer Support

If the drive has failed, you will need to replace it and then order HP Recovery Media to restore your PC.

IF the drive has not failed, then you need to rebuild the boot loader files from Win10 installation media.

You can create the media from this link:  Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help

Then, boot from the media you created, and do NOT install, instead, do a Startup Repair -- and do that three times.

This link is for Win8 bbut the process is the same for Win10: http://www.windowswally.com/how-to-fix-error-code-0xc0000185/

When done, your PC should boot OK.

Good Luck
