Solved!

2019 Office from a dead HP to the new HP laptop.

HP Recommended
Pavilion
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I ordered a Pavilion laptop from HP in August 2019.  I paid for MS Office 2019 to be put on this machine.  Mid June 2021 this laptop died, SSD not even recognizable.

Ordered a new laptop from HP in end of June 2021.  MS Office 2019 is not on the new machine.

Can the license from the MS Office 2019 ordered in  2019 be transferred to the 2021 machine?

Thank you for your help.

You are welcome.

I've only purchased Office "with the computer" once many years ago.

I was not able to get the key information from HP.

If you installed and then registered / activated the Office software with Microsoft,

Microsoft will have that information.

Your best option is to contact Microsoft and see if you can convince them you own the software.

Yeah, but - My situation is different, special, not covered, impossible

Please contact HP Support

Why?

Our Community simply cannot address Microsoft Office license issues – we are a peer-to-Peer user group.

Were I going to try and talk to HP about this, I'd open the case under the new computer (so you can at least submit your case).

Will this work?  Not in my experience, but it's certainly possible that I am wrong and HP can track down the original purchase and license for you.

As long as you have the license for Microsoft Office 2019 and Microsoft knows about it,

You can move / use that license on your new computer.

If you do have trouble, you'll need help from Microsoft.

All Office products are controlled and licensed by Microsoft.

Things that are Office

Microsoft Office is a licensed product controlled and owned by Microsoft.

Some of the ways to “get” Office Software:

  1. Trial Software that comes with the computer.  An "offer" to try the software, in other words.  The license is NOT included in Trial offers.

  1. Purchase Microsoft Office when you purchase your computer

Look for your license key with your purchase paperwork.

  1. Receive a “free one year subscription to Office 365 when you purchase the computer (quite rare).

If you have trouble with this exact type of “installed” Office before it has expired,

Contact HP Support for recovery options.

  1. Purchase Office separately from Microsoft or other merchant.

Thank you Dragon-Fur for your response to my question.

Do you know if there is a way to verify my purchase of the MS Office 2019 with HP and/or get the key info?

Or is the info on the customer packing list?

Thank you for your help.
