HP Chromebook 15.6 inch 15a-na0000 (6E2F0AV)

I don't know if I have selected the right board / place for this query but hopefully someone can help. I have onlu just purchased a new chromebook 2 days ago.  This is my 3rd or 4th one and I have never had an issue before.

When I set up, everything linked to my account came up on my new laptop including favourites.  One of my favourites was for Yahoo, and it would take me to yahoo news.   When I clicked on it, the tab closed down.   It didn't take me to the yahoo site at all.  it is not an issue with slow response; the tab simplys closes down.  i tried seeveral times and had the same issue.  i deleted my favourite and simply typed in yahoo in the address bar, and had the exact issue as soon as i clicked on yahoo.

i also have a yahoo email account which i could log onto on my previous chromebooks but was unable to do so due to the issue mentioned.  i have installed the yahoo mail app from the Play Store  but not only is it not quite the same, the issue remains that I can't access yahoo at all.

i have googled the issue but don't seem to find a solution for the specific issue.

I have tried various things in settings, including cleared history, deleted cookies, ensure java script is enabled and set up yahoo as my homepage but it closes the tab immediately.

i really want this resolved.  i am annoyed to have a brand new laptop and not be able to access the same things as i did with my previous laptop. can anyone help please?   please bear in mind that i am not very techy.....so things like terminology that makes sense to someone else, doesn't always make sense to me....   thanks very much for your help.
