HP 15z-db000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Trying to determine the age of my computer.

The serial number is CND8264 X X X (where the X's are other letters and numbers)

Does this mean it was made in 2008 during the 26th week?

Thanks!

Bob

Hi, Bob:

You're off by 10 years.

Your notebook was made in June of 2018.

Yes, the 8 could be 2008, or 1998 for that matter, but based on the model series you posted, the model series and hardware it has didn't exist in 2008.

Hmm. The only problem is that I think I bought the computer years ago and it was used at that time.  So it should be way over 2 years old.

Actually, I'm thinking about junking it.  It's taken 15 hours to do a couple of Windows 10 updates and it's still not finished.

Is that a sign that it's too old a computer to mess with?

Also the C drive is running at 100% and I can't figure out how to stop that. There are no programs running in the background other than the system programs.

When it finishes updating I'll look at the bios. Maybe I can tell how old it is that way?

Thanks for the help.

You're very welcome.

If your notebook is a 15z-Db000, I stand by the mfr date of June 2018.  It cannot be any earlier than that.

The only suggestion I can offer regarding performance issues would be to see if factory resetting the notebook helps.
