Hi,

Can you upgrade a laptop's BIOS after a Windows 10 Upgrade?

I have an HP Probook 4530s Laptop bought in Dec 2011 that originally came with a Windows 7.

When Windows 10 released few years ago, I got it upgraded during the Free Upgrade Program by then.

Now, when I was doing my usual system upgrades, I noticed that there's a new BIOS update for my laptop but under the "Operating System" tab, it only lists the original OS that came with the laptop (which in my case is a Windows 7).
I am not finding an update for my device
an Is it safe to do a BIOS update? I'm not gonna do anything yet until I have this question answered. I don't want to brick my laptop.

Hi:

I can't find any info where someone has actually updated the BIOS on a 4530s when running W10, but you can read this discussion where I answered the same question a while back...

If you want to take a chance, I recommend that you choose the second option to create a bootable USB BIOS update drive so that you are not updating the BIOS in Windows.
