EliteBook 840 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

Our company has recently purchased the new generation EliteBook 840 G6's and have not been able to identify a particular device driver. Details below.

Hardware Ids:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15E8&SUBSYS_8549103C&REV_06
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15E8&SUBSYS_8549103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15E8&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15E8&CC_0880

This just shows up as Base System Device in Device Manager.

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

You need this driver for that device...

This package provides the Intel Thunderbolt 3 Driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96001-96500/sp96162.exe

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted...

[Manufacturer]
%Intel% = Thunderbolt,NTamd64.10.0...17134

[Thunderbolt.NTamd64.10.0...17134]
; DisplayName Section Device Id
; ----------- ------- ---------
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc1575% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1575&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc1577% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1577&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc15BF% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15BF&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc15D2% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15D2&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc15D9% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15D9&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc15E8% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15E8&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc15EB% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15EB&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc15DC% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15DC&CC_0880
%TbtBusDrv_DeviceDesc15DD% = TbtBusDrv_Device, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15DD&CC_0880

You're very welcome.

What is strange, is now the driver has presented itself with a new set of Hardware Ids:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7360&SUBSYS_8337103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7360&SUBSYS_8337103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7360&CC_0D4000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7360&CC_0D40

HP Recommended

That is strange, since the device seems to have no relation to the thunderbolt controller...

Intel XMM 7360 LTE-A Mobile Broadband Drivers

This looks like the XMM 7360 LTE-A driver and nothing to do with the original post. Strange as this was already installed and working, which has thrown me.

Yes, I posted my reply indicating the same.

I think we posted near enough the same time 🙂

Thanks again for all your help, Paul!
