Computer Won't Turn On. Need to access files.

Notebook 15-f211wm
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)
Can I remove the hard drive to my notebook without voiding the warranty? I need to send it in for repairs but there are files on it that I need access to asap.

Unfortunately, on this model (and many other new ones) the hdd is not easily accessed for removal. It is in fact only recommended to be removed by Service Techs per the Maintenance Guide. Not to say that it is impossible for owner to remove- but it is difficult and I'm not sure that it wouldn't void warranty. You might ask this question of an HP warranty service tech. I assume you have already contacted them about repair and have been instructed on sending it in?

Maintenance Manual is here:

If the laptop still powers on you might be able to boot it from a Linux cd/dvd to copy the files off to external source.
