I lately realized that my computer hasn't been able to charge when it's turned on, however it's been able to charge when it's off. This being not convenient I really need a fix. The fixes that I have tried is uninstalling the battery drivers, then turning the computer off, then taking out the battery and finally turning it back on. Another one was trying multiple different outlets and ac adapters. When the computer is on next to the ac adapter there is a white light, while when its off there is also a light. I'd like to mention the computer won't turn on unless the battery is in it. I would like to see if anyone can help me with this, thank you.

@Fateg, Welcome toHP Support Community!

Update BIOS on your PC

Download and install the latest available BIOS update from the HP Customer Support website.

  1. Go to HP Software & Driver Downloads, and then enter your computer product number.

  2. Look through the available software for BIOS, click download.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

Also, uninstall and reinstall the battery controllers.

  • Click on the Start Button
  • Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
  • Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
  • Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
  • This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
  • Please Shutdown the Notebook
  • Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter
  • Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
  • Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter

If the issue persists, test and calibrate the battery using this document HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows)

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂
