Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this laptop a week ago and I have had to use it regularly for online classes. I installed an update of Windows 10 version 1903. But the laptop seems to be acting extremely slow at times. I haven't occupied too much disk space yet. Opening two browser windows alone slows down the whole PC. I suspect I haven't done something properly or I haven't implemented an update which is slowing down my PC. My old laptop is much faster than this one. It is a 2015 HP Notebook 15 with windows 8.1.

I obviously expected this one to be faster.I have scanned for viruses and it's completely clean.

Is there something that has to be done on a brand new HP laptop that I haven't done? Please let me know!!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is running very slow.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I see that your computer is shipped with 4GB RAM and if you wish you can upgrade the RAM on your computer, and it should help boost the performance.

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.
