I have used the link from Switching out of S mode in Windows, so it takes me to the app store and displays the message and the Get button, but it does not allow me to click on it or anything else

Hi @cpeng,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Laptop 15s-fq2000 is not letting you switch out of S Mode in Windows — the Microsoft Store shows the “Get” button but it’s unclickable. Let’s go through steps to resolve this issue.

a. Check Internet Connection

Ensure you have a stable internet connection.

Connect via wired Ethernet if Wi-Fi is unreliable.

b. Sign in to Microsoft Store

Open Microsoft Store → click your profile icon → ensure you’re signed in with a Microsoft account (not a local account).

c. Update Microsoft Store

Open Microsoft Store → click LibraryGet updates.

Install any updates for the Store or related apps.

d. Clear Microsoft Store Cache

Press Win + R → type:

Press Enter. A blank window will appear; after a few seconds, the Store will reopen.

e. Check Region and Date/TimeGo to Settings → Time & Language → Date & Time.

Ensure time zone, date, and region are correct.

Microsoft Store sometimes blocks the “Get” button if the region doesn’t match the account or store.

f. Use Windows Update

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.

Install all pending updates — switching out of S Mode may require the latest system updates.

g. Run Windows Store Troubleshooter

Go to Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters → Windows Store Apps.

Run the troubleshooter and follow instructions.

wsreset.exe

I hope this helps.

Hi,

None of this has worked and it is still not letting me press Get. I’ve tried every thin it flashes red and then doesn’t let me press it just stays black. I’ve even tried doing it through System > Activation but even then it won’t let me exit

  1. Run all your Windows updates, reboot, try again
  2. Open the Store app -> click on the Library icon -> click on Get Updates -> Update all. When that finishes, restart your computer and try switching out of S mode again
  3. Reset your WIndows store by pressing Windows + R key to open the run command, then type wsreset.exe and wait for it to finish out.
