Hello,

I have a HP Omen Transcend 14 that I started using in late 2025. It was brand new when I started using it.

Earlier this year, the touchpad and two of the keyboard keys stopped working. The e key slowly became intermittent, needing to be pressed several times, and eventually reached the point here it pretty much just never works when pressed. Then the w key also started progressively failing, and today it works less than half the time (quite like this issue experienced by another customer on this forum). The rest of the keys work fine. At the same time, the touchpad started to not work sometimes, and now it barely works at all. Sometimes, disabling and re-enabling the touchpad in Windows Device Manager would make it work again, but it usually just stays not working - and an error appears in Device Manager, "The device cannot start". These issues all just started happening shortly after the warranty expired (November 2025).

Th laptop has been looked after, it has never been in contact with dust, water, or extreme temperatures, it appears to be a hardware fault from factory.

How can I have my laptop fixed? I know there are cases here HP will fix out-of-warranty devices if the device fault is entirely a manufacture hardware problem (which this is). I use this laptop for studies and really need the keyboard and touchpad working as soon as possible.

Many thanks, N

Hi  @NoahDomingues,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I can understand how  it must be to have both the keyboard and touchpad failing, especially since you rely on your HP Omen Transcend 14 for your studies.

To begin, could you please confirm the exact product model number ?

In the meantime, here are a few  steps you can try:

  1. Update drivers: Open HP Support Assistant or Windows Update and install the latest drivers for both the keyboard and touchpad.
  2. Run HP diagnostics: Restart your laptop and press F2 to access HP PC Hardware Diagnostics. Run a full keyboard and touchpad test to confirm hardware faults.
  3. Reset BIOS settings: Sometimes restoring BIOS defaults can help reinitialize hardware components.
  4. External keyboard/mouse test: Connect an external USB keyboard and mouse to confirm if the issue is isolated to the built-in components.
  5. Device Manager reinstallation: Uninstall the keyboard and touchpad drivers from Device Manager, then restart the laptop to let Windows reinstall them.

( Step 2 ) If the diagnostics confirm a hardware fault, the hardware replacement would be required also kindly confrim if the unit is still in warranty ?

I hope this helps.
