Hi! I'm having overheating issues with my ENVY. It has the 3050RTX GPU. Minutes after starting a game, temp rises above 80°C (176°F) and the fan is running at 138RPM top. I already did the fan test on the BIOS and it seems to be a software issue.
I've tried applications as MSI Afterburner in order to increase fan speed manually but with no luck.

Hey JBanks11
Jogi here.
Is your Envy an old one?
When do you have replaced the thermal paste at last?
Did you have clean up the inside of your laptop one day?
Is your fan dusty? Did you clean it?
If your temp raised to over 80 and this is new, I bet on thermal paste or dusty fan or dusty inside.
But this could be also caused by a BIOS or Win10 Version.
Because I bought an Envy on eBay. BIOS Version from 2017 and Windows 19Hx.
No overheating issues. No fan control tool needed.
After I updated the BIOS and the Win10 Version, the fan went crazy.
-------
If your temp raised to over 80 while you are playing a new game, which requires higher specs than your laptop is able to provide, then you should stop playing this game, which causes the overheating - or try a cooling plate.
PS.I use Notebook Fan Control.
Sincerely
Jogi

Hi Jogi, is a 2022 model, and I already blow and clean the fans and vents. The wired thing is when I do the gpu fan test pressing F2 when starting the pc it works fine in all speed ranges. But once on windows it stop working, only idleing. Wich fan control are you using?

Hey JBanks11
Ok, the laptop is 1 yr old.
You have cleant up the inside of your laptop.
Did you replace the thermal paste?
Did you have done it correctly? not too thin, not too thick?
If you have done all what you could do, I would say the game you are playing overstrains your laptop a little bit.
or it is just normal, because the game needs ressources.
This remembers me the days where I have played Fortnite - on my Envy with an i5-7200u.
The GPU and CPU temps were always high and the fan was on its maximum all the time.
The only reason why I wasnt annoyed by it, were the sound of fortnite, which was louder than the fan XD.
----------
The Fan Control I am using has been coded by Hirschmann.
You can also download it as install file. There or via another page.
The fan control mode I am using is "HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-cn0xxx".
And I have uninstalled CoolSense, this is the most senseless tool in universe, except you want to make the laptop owner is going crazy. XD
Sincerely
Jogi.
