Google Chrome not installing after download "unknown error"

HP ENVY 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought my PC yesterday and I've spent at least an hour today trying to install google chrome. It will download every time I try but when I press run on the tab at the bottom of the screen it will try to install then when it is finished it says google chrome could not install due to an unknown error. I have tried restarting my laptop, downloading both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions for windows 10 and nothing has changed. Each time it just won't install due to an "unknown error." Please help, I have been using chrome for years and everything I use is run through google.

Google Chrome not installing after download "unknown error"

@will14lloyd

Try / Consider:

Download the 64bit Chrome installation file > When the download is complete >

Save the file to your computer (Downloads folder ?) >

Open File Explorer > Navigate to the folder in which the file was saved >

Double-Click on the installation filename to start the installation.

That's exactly what I did. Then after downloading it stays "Google Chrome couldn't be installed due to an unspecified error"
