HP 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Chromebook

I have a new HP Chromebook for school and am having two issues that are not addressed in the User Manual.

(1) Fingerprint Reader:  I set up fingerprints in the reader, but they do not seem to work for any function on the Chromebook.  They do not allow me to logon or unlock.  Is this the reader's function.  If yes - what am I doing wrong?  I am swiping down on the reader as instructed in the manual.

(2) Display:  Every time I touch the right side of the computer and slightly move it (like when it is on my lap), my screen goes blank and  I must  click the track pad several times to make the screen come back on.  Is this some type of feature?  I am not touching the on/off/sleep button which is on the left side of the computer.

Thanks for the help!
