HP ENVY - 17t-ce100 CTO has started shutting down randomly several times a day. It is connected to power plug because battery has failure ID-GTVLGM-9R1C0G-GXGKGK-C08803. I keep seeing information about updating BIOS, but HP does not show a driver for Windows 11 on this PC model. Current BIOS is F.13 and rollback is F.07. I work remotely so need solution as soon as possible. Thanks, Smitty924

Hi @Smitty924,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Random shutdowns can be caused by various factors, and it's essential to troubleshoot the issue step by step. Here are Steps to help you identify and resolve the problem:
Check for Overheating:
- Ensure that the laptop is not overheating. Overheating can lead to sudden shutdowns.
- Clean the laptop vents and cooling fans to prevent dust buildup.
- Consider using a cooling pad to help with heat dissipation.
Update Drivers:
- Although you mentioned that HP doesn't provide a specific driver for Windows 11, make sure that all drivers, especially graphics and power-related drivers, are up to date.
- Check the HP website periodically for updated drivers, as they may release compatibility updates.
BIOS Update:
- While HP might not list a Windows 11 driver explicitly, you may try installing the latest BIOS update available for Windows 10. In many cases, Windows 10 drivers are compatible with Windows 11.
- Be cautious when updating the BIOS, and follow HP's guidelines precisely.
Power Settings:
- Check the power settings in Windows 11 to ensure that the laptop is not set to shut down or sleep unexpectedly.
- Adjust power settings and see if the issue persists.
Run System Diagnostics:
- HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostic tools. Run a full system diagnostic to check for hardware issues.
- Look for any error messages or codes that might point to the cause of the shutdowns.
Battery Replacement:
- Since you mentioned a battery failure ID, it's recommended to replace the faulty battery. A failing battery can sometimes cause unexpected shutdowns even when the laptop is connected to power.
Windows Updates:
- Ensure that Windows 11 is fully updated. Sometimes, a system update can resolve compatibility issues and bugs.
Event Viewer:
- Check the Windows Event Viewer for any critical errors or warnings around the time of the shutdown. This may provide additional information about the cause.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
