Dear Forum Members, Dear Expert,

Is there a way to optimize the cooling of an HP Laptop 15-fd0050nh (AY7G3EA) laptop, even at the BIOS level? Our customer says the fan is too loud, but we don't have another laptop of the same type in stock, so I can't check it out.

Thank you very much for your help.

Have a nice day,

Frank

Hi @SuhajdaFerenc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help me understand the situation better, could you please share a bit more information?

 Please let me know:

, could you please share a bit more information about the issue?

1. When does the fan become loud?

  • During startup
  • While idle
  • When running specific programs
  • After some time of use

2. Has the laptop recently undergone any software updates, BIOS updates, or hardware changes?

3. Is the laptop used on a hard, flat surface? (Soft surfaces may block ventilation.)

In the meantime, please try the steps below to see if they help reduce the fan noise:

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Update the BIOS & Drivers
Fans can run loudly if thermal profiles aren’t optimized.

  • Open HP Support Assistant → Check for BIOS, chipset, and thermal updates.
  • Install all recommended updates, then restart.

2. Clean the Vents
Dust buildup can force the fan to run harder.

  • Ensure the air vents around the sides and bottom are clean and unobstructed.

3. Check Background Processes

  • Open Task Manager → see if any processes are using high CPU or GPU unexpectedly.

4. BIOS-Level Check (if applicable)
Some HP models allow minimal fan behaviour adjustments in BIOS.

  • Restart → Press F10 → Look under Advanced or System Configuration for cooling/fan behavior settings.
(If available, avoid "Always On" fan mode.)

I hope this helps.
