I have an HP omen 17t-w100 running on windows 10 home 64-bit. My currect BIOS Version/Date is Insyde F.45, 1/25/2018 . HP support assistant is telling me to update to F.46. I downloaded and installed the upate through HP support assistant and after it was done , I checked my BIOS version and it is still the same. The action log in HP support assistant shows that it was installed. My laptop is getting a lot of BSOD and i think updating the BIOS might fix it. Why isn't the BIOS succeeding though? I attached few screenshots that might help.

Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding issues with Bluescreen errors and bios not displaying the version correctly in HP support assistant. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require information regarding this:
- Did you run complete hardware diagnostics on the computer to eliminate hardware issues with it?
- Did you try to manually update the bios?
What is the exact error message on the screen? - Does your computer randomly shut down, freeze or lockup?
For now, try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the computer by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2nwQ054
- Then run complete extensive diagnostics on the computer from this link: https://hp.care/2uoegKc and follow instructions from the section “Run the Extensive Test (2 hours or more)”
- If any component fails, please make a note of the failure code and contact HP phone support to get the computer serviced by following these steps:
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
- Click on this link – https://hp.care/2moMFSc
- 2) Click on “Continue as guest”.
- 3) Enter the serial of your device.
- 4) Select the country from the drop-down.
- 5) Click on “Show Options”.
Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
If diagnostics pass, backup your important data and perform a Microsoft push-button reset of Windows 10 by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2uiBZLS
There is an associated video on how to do it. This should resolve the issue.
For the bios, manually update it by visiting this link: https://hp.care/2syreDe Then select the country and type the model# or product# of the computer. Then follow the on-screen instructions to update it manually.
Later uninstall HP support assistant completely from programs and features.
Then install the latest version of HP support assistant and check the bios version. It should show up correctly.
There is no cause for concern. The computer is under warranty and we will take care of it for you. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you and get the issue fixed.
Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. My laptop randomly gets the BSOD and the error messages are different everytime.Examples are "NTFS.sys" ," KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED", "usbhub.sys" among many different others which i don't remember now.I want to let you know that I already performed several windows 10 resets , using delete everything and keep personal files options to try to stop the BSOD. Thats why I think updating the BIOS could be the solution.I did the following:
1) I performed a POWER reset
2) I did an extensive hardware test and all Passed.
3) I tried to update the BIOS manually and it failed. Attached is the message I got.
Is there anything else I could do?

If windows resets have not fixed the issue and the issue continues, Then there is more to it than meets the eye. It looks like a hardware issue with the computer. Your time and patience are greatly appreciated. Your technical expertise, superb temperament and brilliant efforts are admirable. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
Like I said before please contact HP phone support to get the issue fixed. Now trust me I've done all I can to assist you here, by keeping your best interest in mind. It has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you and a genuine pleasure to work with you. I hope things work great for you.

I think I had the same issue last night after buying a used Omen - the "install" would slowly progress for nearly 2 hours with fan at full speed and then "succeed" but bios wasn't actually updated
Fortunately your BIOS is 2/3 there 🙂 You need to go into hardware diagnostics (esc / f2) and then go to firmware menu and "upgrade firmware". It will show the newer version you attempted earlier pre-populated and so just go ahead and flash from there. From that menu the install happened in < 30 seconds instead of hours. If this isn't an option, try creating the USB flash option from a newer bios download and leave that inserted into the left side USB port. I had the USB in, but don't think it was necessary (it was 1 am so I didn't pay exact attention)
Afterwards, download the latest bios and install it since there is a newer rev from the time you posted
