Has anyone upgraded their HP Pavilion 14-ce0068st that originally came with W10 Home to W10 Pro Successfully?

@covinanc

I don't think you can do this.  My reasoning is that Home and Pro are different license, requiring different Product Keys, and that would require you either buying an HP OEM Pro license or an HP OEM Pro Upgrade. I know that HP does not sell OEM licenses, but I do not know about Upgrades.

My suggestion is that you contact HP Customer Support and see if they will sell you an Upgrade:

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (650) 857-1501.

Hi, @covinanc

WAWood is correct in that you have to purchase a W10 Pro upgrade license.

However, you can do that directly from the Windows Store.

The W10 Pro upgrade from Microsoft will work just fine with the W10 Home product key in your notebook's BIOS.

Here is the link that will explain how easy it is to upgrade from W10 Home to W10 Pro.

As a matter of fact, this is the only way you can do the upgrade. You do not clean install W10 Pro, because no matter what you do, W10 Home will be installed since that is the product key in the BIOS.

As far as your question regarding successfully upgrading that model from Home to Pro...There is no reason whatsoever why W10 Pro shouldn't work just fine on that model notebook.

The difference between Home and Pro are the features included.

For example, if you need to join a domain or use bitlocker, than you need to have W10 pro.

This link provides the differences between the two versions.
