Hi All. I have found my old laptop and just wanted to make sure that, as it works, it is not left to waste. I have tried searching my serial number but the laptop is too old to have a downloads page. I have found other DV2000 bios discussions but they appear to relate to different models (Intel and AMD) and the intel version found did not install. I believe my model is a rn064ea#abu. I can provide the serial number if needed? Also, is there anyway to find out which Processors this would support? I have a spare T7300 and a T3400, would either of those work? They have the same socket. I will be taking it apart to clean the thermal paste. Thanks!

@timmynana1,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion dv2130ea Notebook PC (rn064ea), according to: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=rn064ea, is fitted with the Intel Core Duo processor T2250.

To check processor compatibility, we look here: https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_Duo/T2250.html:

As to the question would the T7300 and T3400 be compatible, the answer appears to be no.

The fastest processor for your laptop would be the Core Duo T2700 (2.33 GHz, 2-Cores, 2-Threads).

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Hi, @timmynana1

This reputable 3rd party website has the drivers you need for your notebook.

HP Pavilion dv2130ea drivers (driverscollection.com)

If you plan to update the BIOS, the file was written to be run using Windows XP or Windows Vista only.

Based on the chipset your notebook has, the best processor you can install would be the T7200.

The T7300 won't work because that has an 800 MHz FSB and your notebook's chipset only support processors with up to 667 MHz FSB's.

The T3400 may work, but it is not listed as a supported processor in chapter 1 of the service manual.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the installed processor and the T3400:

Thank you for the speed and detailed replies, it really is very kind! It looks like I may be out of luck with the processors, and I've always been a little cautious when using third parties for the bios, but I assume the computer will do some sort of check to make sure the new bios is compatible. I'll try to download and will provide an update. Thanks again.

You're very welcome.

I have never received any feedback regarding problems with the BIOS or driver files from that website.

If you can figure out how to open the HP FTP site which used to work in Internet Explorer or Edge in Internet explorer mode, you can get the softpaq file number directly from HP.

I have been unable to access this site for a few months now.

Of the two processors you have, the T3400 has a decent chance of working.

The T7300 has no chance of working.
