Microsoft Windows 11

I suddenly lost the Wifi option. There is no option to add a new network. I tried various options  mentioned by previous posters with no luck. Thank you.

@SriGogineni, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue where the Wi-Fi option has disappeared from your HP Pavilion Laptop, and you're unable to add a new network. Let's walk through some steps to help restore your Wi-Fi functionality.

Check if Wi-Fi Adapter is Enabled

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network adapters.
  3. Look for a wireless adapter (e.g., Realtek, Intel, or Broadcom Wireless Adapter).
  4. If it's disabled (a small down arrow icon), right-click and select Enable.

Run HP Network Check

HP provides a built-in tool to diagnose and fix network issues:

  • Open HP Support Assistant (search for it in the Start menu).
  • Go to Troubleshooting and Fixes > Internet and Security > HP Network Check.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

If you don’t have HP Support Assistant, you can download it here: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Reinstall the Wireless Driver

  1. In Device Manager, right-click your wireless adapter and choose Uninstall device.
  2. Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device if available.
  3. Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Alternatively, you can manually download the latest driver from HP website: Official HP® Support

Check Windows Services

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Ensure the following services are Running and Set to Automatic:
    • WLAN AutoConfig
    • Network Connections

BIOS and Windows Updates

Outdated BIOS or Windows versions can cause hardware issues:

  • Run Windows Update from Settings.
  • Visit HP’s support site to check for BIOS updates: Official HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Did a hard reboot a few times and the option  came back. Problem solved.
