HP probook 6550B
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone and welcome to this post!

This post is regarding BIOS whitelisting on an older machine, this is the Probook 6550B.

I want to connect an external GPU to my HP laptop via the Expresscard slot, but from what i have heard this will not be possible.

What i know:

HP had a whitelisting system in thier BIOS till a few years ago when they decided to remove it and allow for third party components. I think this happened in 2012, but my laptop is made in 2010.

the EGPU setup should work (EXPRESSCARD), but the only problem will be bios whitelist.

My HP laptop HAS a BIOS whitelist, because if I put in a newer PCI-e Wifi card from a newer HP laptop (post 2012) it gets blocked.

The newest BIOS is from 30th of Nov 2015 it is F.60 Rev a 68CDE

What information I would like to know:

Will the expresscard setup work with my HP laptop? because it is a PCI interface, but is hotswapable so I dont know if it gets blocked.

Is expresscard affected by BIOS whitelists?

Is there a Modded BIOS out there for my HP probook 6550B that has no whitelist. (Im willing to take the risk)

Thanks again for coming to my post!
