HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0037ur

Hi!

How can I enable the Resizable Bar feature? I have an HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-df0xxx laptop with an external Intel Arc GPU connected. Intel diagnostics say that the feature is available but disabled in the BIOS. However, in the BIOS, even the Advanced tab is hidden, so I can't check if this option exists. I also doubt that flashing a modified BIOS will work due to the Protected Registry Entry.

So what should I do? I have the laptop, but I can't use it properly because the company has locked all the possibilities to enable the necessary feature.

How can I enable it after all?

Is there maybe a BIOS update, patch, or some other way?

Thank you!

Hi @Gorich,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Enabling the Resizable BAR feature on your HP Spectre x360 can be tricky, especially if the BIOS options are limited. Here are some steps you can take to potentially enable it.

  • Check for BIOS Updates: Visit the HP support website and check if there’s a newer BIOS version for your model. Sometimes, manufacturers add features or unlock hidden options in updates.
  • Accessing Advanced BIOS Options: If the Advanced tab is hidden, you might try pressing certain key combinations during boot (like Esc, F10, or F2) to see if it brings up additional settings. Some users have reported success by pressing Fn + Esc or Ctrl + Alt + Esc.
  • BIOS Modding Risks: Modifying the BIOS can be risky and may void warranties or lead to hardware issues. If you consider this, make sure you fully understand the risks involved and have a recovery plan.
  • External GPU Software: Some external GPU setups might have their own software options that enable or optimize performance settings like Resizable BAR. Check the Intel Arc software for any settings related to this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
