Hello

HP Support Assistant takes over an hour to search for updates

Also I have the latest version of HP Support Assistant installed

How can this be fixed?

There have not been any Windows 8.1 OS updates for your system for a long time.

 

Solution:  Stop using HP Support Assistant to update your HP software and drivers.

 

For example, the latest HP update for your system running Windows 8.1x is the BIOS and that update is from 2018 - everything else is several years older than that.

 

Software and Drivers 

 

If you like having the HPSA around, open Settings > and remove the "automatically" update option.
