@SnoopDoge,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that HP support assistant is not showing any updates for your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • Are you facing any issues with the computer?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I recommend you uninstall HP support assistant and then download and install it from the below link.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

1. i had issues with the laptop freezing so i had to force turn it off by holding down the power button

2. i haven't made any software changes, my brother's HP laptop is running the same Windows version and security patches and still can find the updates via the assistant

3. i already reinstalled the assistant and nothing fixed, instead it's now showing i NEVER checked for updates

@SnoopDoge,

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

What is the model for your brother's computer?

I would like to inform you that HP support assistant shows drivers and other updates based on the computer hardware configuration.

I recommend you update the bios and the chipset driver from the below link and check if it helps.

Chipset: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp87501-88000/sp87981.exe

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88501-89000/sp88780.exe

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

His laptop is HP pavilion 15 notebook PC, but keep in mind, that assistant is not not giving me updates, instead it's not showing that I even checked for updates, last time I checked just before writing this reply and it shows that I NEVER checked

@SnoopDoge,

Thank you for the information.

I recommend you update the bios and the chipset driver from my previous post and test.

If you continue to face the issue, I recommend you perform a reset on the computer and check whether the issue is resolved.

Follow the steps in the below artilce to perform a reset on the computer.
