HP Notebook - 17z-y000 CTO

Help, I am getting the above error message when I try to diagnose my hard drive.  Is it time to buy a new laptop or is there something I can do to fix this problem?

You'll need to install a new drive and reinstall the operating system.

 

You have a CTO (Configured to Order) model, so I don't know what type of drive it came with--a 2.5" SATA mechanical hard drive or a M.2 2280 SATA solid state drive.

 

Enter your notebook's serial number in the search window at the link below and it should provide the drive type and description.

If the parts list indicates your notebook comes with a 2.5" mechanical hard drive, and you want to fix the notebook, you may want to consider replacing the failed drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive.
