Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi! Sorry for my english. I have pavilion gaming 15 cx0xxx. When i open BIOS there is no Advanced tab. My motherboard is HP 8478 and the version of BIOS is F.20. I want to controll fan speed. So i'm asking how to unlock/open Advanced tab in BIOS.

Sorry, but accessing Advanced BIOS option on HP PCs is not possible.

Some OEMs lock out the advanced BIOS options to prevent customers from making changes to options that can destabilize or otherwise damage the PC -- and then send it back for repair under warranty claiming they did nothing to it.

I know only SOME of the advanced options are risky, but it's simpler to disable access to ALL advanced options than to allow/disallow on an individual option basis.

That's the course of action that HP has chosen.

I understand that, my laptop is overheating, the fans are not speeding up, i have enabled bios funcion "fans always on" but that don't change anything. Is there any other method to speed up or control the fans?

There is a freeware app known as SpeedFan -- but it only works sporadically and is generally used to slow down fans, not speed them up.

SpeedFan isn't detecting any fans, while playing MINECRAFT (which is lite game) CPU temperature goes up to 100C*, i think that is not good, is there any other way to adjust the fan speed? While playing games they are not even spinning fast 😕 Maybe there is a secret key to open advanced tab in bios? I'm not dumb about these things and i would not destroy my laptop.

I hate to tell you this, but they'll never unlock your bios, and will wait for warranty to expire then ghost you. I've pleaded for 3 years now to just activate my SATA AHCI mode or even SATA PCI-e modes, noticed that I mentioned SATA twice. I was hacked day 2 outta the box, by week 3 the computer shop swore no viruses malware, or anything like, he did do a factory reset, I lost SATA bios that day. 3 years later I have a m.2 B key SATA 500Gb 3D Nand SSD and SATA 3D Nand SSD, and my BIOS is in ACPI / IDE mode. That's how much they care about the customer.

Sorry your best bet is to buy a laptop fan, from best buy, and maybe get a new fan or clean your housings to allow for some good old new air. I think they even sell water cooling systems fans for laptops now.. Good luck! Oh yeah if you have a warranty a service order is your best bet. If not geek squad can "clean it" for ya, possibly even fix it... Also another reason might be your processor may have to much thermal paste on it, this actually happens allot just look up that cleaning thing again and you got this!
