Hi @Bubba666,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To find the latest BIOS for your "HP 17" laptop, you can follow these steps.

Steps to Download the Latest BIOS:

Visit HP's Support Website:

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.

Identify Your Model:

  • Enter the exact model name or serial number of your laptop in the search box (e.g., "HP Laptop 17-byXXXX").
  • If you're unsure about the exact model, you can:
    • Look at the label on the bottom of your laptop.
    • Use HP's "Detect My Product" feature available on the website.

Select Operating System:

  • Choose your laptop's operating system (e.g., Windows 11, Windows 10).

Download BIOS Update:

  • Look for the BIOS section in the list of available drivers.
  • Download the latest BIOS file and follow the installation instructions provided on the page.

Note:

  • BIOS Update Precautions: Make sure your laptop is connected to a power source during the update, and do not turn it off during the process.
  • Retired Products: If the laptop model is retired and BIOS updates are unavailable, it may still be possible to find the BIOS file for the second laptop through the following:
    • HP FTP Archive: Use tools or forums that reference older HP BIOS files (ensure they are from a trusted source).
    • Cloning the BIOS: Use the updated laptop to extract and flash the same BIOS version onto the second unit using a BIOS programmer or specialized software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
