My question is simple, but the answer must be complex!! Simply what I want to do is turn the back lites on where they will not time out between uses.

The answer is not complicated, though it may be disappointing for you to hear.
Not all computers with the Backlit keyboard include the timeout control to keep that keyboard from going dark after a short period of time.
In particular, at this writing, consumer grade computers do not have the access to the BIOS Advanced section where this sort of control would be located.

This is one of those situations where the how-to document mentions that a particular feature might not be supported on every computer. The document does not offer an exact explanation for you because the document is not written for YOUR computer.

Thank you for the detailed response to my issue. I really thought that I was just overlooking something simple. I had tried the bios method to find just what you had said, this units' bios does not allow entry into advanced section, but again thanks and have a great second half to the weekend.
