Laptop not charging past 77% and charge limit keeps decreasing day by day

So 5 days ago I noticed my laptop only charged until 89% and I did panic a bit since it was charging for about 10 hours and normally it would charge fully less than that time so I let it charge a bit more and it was still 89%, I tried uninstalling the battery in device manager and restarting/ shutting down which had not helped (tried that many times) and the battery charging limit is decreasing day by day and yesterday since the battery only charged until 77% I decided to go in BIOS to see if anything could help and tried disabling and enabling the settings but noticed that none of them would help so I reset all that and opened HP UEFI diagnostics and did a test on the battery, it said charging limit is 79% and the battery itself was OK (1) so is there a way to change the battery charging limit because at this time I need to have meetings online often for long as 5 hours and my battery would run out even if it was 100% so I need a solution a bit fast without having to replace the proper battery (it is possible the battery itself is an issue since this laptop is 4 years old and has went through 3 repairs)

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and check if that helps

Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please restart the Notebook
 

Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

If the issue persists then you will need to replace the Battery

Hi sorry for late reply, although my laptop battery is still decreasing (only charges until 54 now sadly) this did make it say on the battery test "REPLACE (42)" so I will probably be replacing the battery itself, thank you for the help though 🙂
