I was trying to connect my HP OfficeJet H8015e printer to my MAC air computer.  Both the computer and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.  When trying to ADD the HP OfficeJet H8015e printer to the MAC (in printers & scanners of System Settings) the printer does not show up.

When using the HP app to runs a diagnostic on the printer I get an error message that says "Driver Check Issue".

I tried to update the software & drivers, but was not able to figure it out.

Hi @dd-cooley,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your Mac Air is unable to detect your HP OfficeJet H8015e printer despite both being on the same Wi-Fi network. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Ensure Wi-Fi is Enabled on Printer:

  • Check that your printer’s Wi-Fi is turned on. This can typically be done via the printer’s control panel.

Run Wireless Network Test:

  • Use your printer’s menu to run a Wireless Network Test. This will print a report with detailed diagnostics and suggestions to resolve any identified issues.

Check MAC and Printer Connection:

  • Verify that both your Mac Air and your printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi SSID.

  • On your Mac, click on the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar to confirm the connected network.

Reboot Devices:

  • Turn off the printer, Mac Air, and the wireless router. Turn them back on in the following order: router, printer, then the Mac.

Printer in System Preferences:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners on your Mac.

  • Click the plus (+) button to add a printer.

  • If the printer does not appear, click Reset printing system to remove all existing printer settings. This can help resolve conflicts and find the printer again.

Check Firewall:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your Mac, which may block printer connections, then check again.

Use HP App:

  • Ensure the HP app is updated. It can assist in connecting your printer to the network and installing necessary drivers.

Troubleshoot Driver Issues:

  • If there's a "Driver Check" error, verify that the correct driver is installed. Visit Official HP® Support to download and install the latest driver for your printer model.

Access HP's Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Enter the printer’s IP address in your web browser to access EWS to further configure the printer.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
