I purchased a laptop from Flipkart and when  it was delivered I set up my new hp laptop he show's "Your McAfee trial ended 40 days ago"

How is that possible with my new laptop?

McAfee is antivirus software that is typically included as trial software to get you to buy a full subscription when the trial has run out.  If there was not a previous owner that activated the trial, then perhaps a fault in the software.  Since you purchased the laptop from Flipkart, I suspect either the laptop was started up and registered by another user or it is an error.  If Windows started up and required you to register as usual for a new account, then possibly just an error on the McAfee software.

Are there any other signs that this PC was not new/unused?
