Hi @Liernur,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop consistently takes about 2 minutes and 20 seconds to start, this could be due to various reasons such as software configurations, hardware limitations, or system settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially improve boot time.

1. Disable Startup Programs:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab.
  • Disable unnecessary programs that do not need to run at startup by right-clicking them and selecting Disable.

2. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your system is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates as these can include performance improvements.

3. Run Disk Cleanup:

  • Search for and open Disk Cleanup.
  • Select the drive you want to clean (usually the C: drive), and check items like Temporary files and Recycle Bin to clean them.

4. Check for Malware:

  • Run a full antivirus scan to ensure that malware isn't affecting your startup time.

5. Check for Driver Updates:

  • Go to Device Manager, expand different categories, right-click on devices, and select Update driver.

6. Optimize Your Drive:

  • Open This PC, right-click on your Drive, select Properties.
  • Under the Tools tab, click Optimize and run optimization (especially for HDDs, though SSDs usually don’t need defragmentation).

7. Bios Update:

  • Ensure your BIOS is up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP Support website, searching for your laptop model, and checking for any BIOS updates.

8. Remove Unnecessary Hardware:

  • If any peripherals are connected that you don't need during startup (e.g., external hard drives, USB devices), try disconnecting them and seeing if boot times improve.

9. Consider Hardware Upgrades:

  • If your laptop has an HDD, consider upgrading to an SSD, which significantly speeds up boot times.
  • Adding more RAM can also help if your laptop is constantly using virtual memory due to insufficient physical memory.

10. Check Event Viewer:

  • You can check for any potential boot-time errors by searching for Event Viewer, going to Windows Logs > System, and checking for any error messages during startup times.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
