I have a HP laptop 17-ca 2000ns and it will not recognise my Samsung phone, I am using a brand new data cable and am unable to download photos from my phone.

@Ziggy18

This is almost certainly due to lack of drivers -- as I had the same issue with my Samsung phone and Windows 10.

You need to go to the Samsung site and download the Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones and install it.  That is what it took for my PC to see my phone.
