I would think that if your numeric pad isn't broken, that you would push the num lock. That's what appened to me and I pushed the num lock button and it turned it back on! But if your keyboard is just broken, then I would go and get it fixed. Sorry being a little too logic here

Numeric keypad not working on Windows HP Pavilion 8.1.
I finally found one solution: when I change some settings on my mouse pointer.
Use numeric keypad to move the mouse around the screen: make sure that is off.
Use mouse keys when number lock is on: make sure that's turned off as well hope that works for you to you. After you hit apply and okay then close the screen and see if you can use your keypad to input numbers!

Click on Start --> Control Panel --> Ease of Access --> Ease of Access Center -->
Click on "Change how your keyboard works" --> Under Control the mouse with the
keyboard, uncheck the check box "Turn ON Mouse Keys" --> Click on OK.
